The artist has given the entirety of his £25,000 honor winnings to the MVT, which operates to save the United Kingdom's small music venues.

Fender was given the prize on mid-October as his third album his work was declared the best record of the previous year.

Fender has decided to donate the funds to the trust, in recognition of the crucial part local spots had in his beginning days.

"I personally couldn't be pursuing what I am doing today if it wasn't for all the shows I played around the region, and elsewhere, when I was beginning," said Sam Fender. "These venues are iconic, but they are facing challenges."

From early 2023 onward, over 150 of these spaces have ceased operations – approximately 16% of the entire UK sector.

In the last year, top acts including the band Pulp, the group Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the Music Venues Trust in its efforts to help venues survive, by adding a modest fee to their ticket prices, which benefits smaller concert halls.

He also participated, generating over £100k on his live tour to assist numerous small stages across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The donation supported locations that were facing potential shutdown due to difficulties arising from floods, fires and personal losses, as well as regulatory hurdles, conflicts and neighbor objections.

Additional spaces obtained financial assistance in modernizing infrastructure and sound and lighting systems that helped artists and fans.

"The idea that revenue from shows in large arenas backs the independent spots, where it all starts for performers like me, is just sensible," the star has said.

Additionally the 1994 recipients they gave their prize to a charity for MS after a acquaintance was identified with the condition.

"Winning was quite enough," remarked vocalist Heather Small. "The money was the cherry on top but we didn't need the extra, because we had the cake. So our success affected somebody else's life."

Recently, the trust revealed it had saved several grassroots venues in the South East, by placing them under public stewardship.

The first in that area and The Croft in the city were purchased under the community ownership program, which is funded by a national body and music fans who buy "shares" in the properties.
