The second-hand marketplace Members Share Displeasure Regarding Sizing Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its size classifications for women's and children's clothes but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a different size category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Modifications
Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
